Cyprus Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Praxoula Antoniadou held on Tuesday a series of meetings in Israel with a number of Ministers and officials from the Israeli government. During those meetings she discussed a number of important issues including commerce, tourism, energy, research and technology.

According to Ship Management Survey, released on Monday by the Central Bank of Cyprus, the majority of revenues came from Germany (57%). There were also significant contributions from Switzerland (11%) and Latvia (7%). These figures do not represent the countries of the beneficial ship owners whose ships are managed by companies based in Cyprus. They merely represent the countries from where the payments were transferred to Cyprus.

Government Spokesman Stephanos Stephanou has said that the Government is following a targeted policy on the natural gas issue. When asked by reporters on Sunday about the second gas licencing round, Stephanou said that the Government, despite the provocations and threats on behalf of Turkey, has successfully promoted the issue and that is''because of the very specific, targeted policy followed by the Government as well as good planning and careful movements being made.'' He pointed out that this policy will be continued with regard to the second gas licencing round based on the laws and regulations of both Cyprus and the EU.''

Cyprus and Israel signed two agreements on Monday Jan 9th concerning defence cooperation and the protection and exchange of graded information.The agreements were signed during the official visit to Israel by Cypriot Minister of Defence Demetris Eliades, at the invitation of Israel's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Ehud Barak, who said Cyprus and Israel share common values and wish for peace with their neighbouring countries.
